Drawing on the fabled lifestyle and culture of Indian royalty through the centuries, along with 6000-year-old Eastern wellness philosophies devised to align body, soul and mind, Jiva Grande Spa is a special space. At its essence, it encapsulates the ‘science of longevity’ with the wisdom of the ages behind its offerings.
Here ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ meaning ‘the guest is god’ is an adage to be adhered to, and holistic treatments are enlivened with meaningful ceremonies and rituals that encourage total relaxation. Taj Cape Town boasts the only Jiva Spa in Africa and the spa’s global principles apply: everything that touches the body is completely natural, with materials like organic cotton, sun-bleached fabric, oven-baked pottery and soy cotton.
They strongly recommend advance booking of spa treatments to avoid last minute inconvenience.
Also, they suggest arriving 30 minutes prior for your scheduled appointment to make the most of the wet and heat areas. Spending quality time in these areas enhances the therapy session you are about to experience by warming your muscles, opening pores and initiating the detoxification process. As per spa etiquette, it is essential for you to wear swimwear in the wet areas.
Though they will try their best to accommodate your treatment should you arrive late for your scheduled appointment, they may shorten your session or reschedule to avoid inconvenience to the next guest. A large number of Jiva treatments comprise of a five minute pre-therapy and post-therapy ritual.
While they look after your belongings to the best of our abilities, Jiva Spa will not be liable for any loss of your valuables. They strongly request you to leave your valuables safely in the spa locker.
They require a 24-hour cancellation notice to reschedule your appointment, subject to availability at the spa. Please note that any cancellation with less than 3 hours notice will command a 50% cancellation fee. You will be charged the entire cost of a treatment in the case of a ‘no show’ without any prior cancellation as mentioned above.
Shaving is recommended a few hours prior to your facial treatment. Shaving or waxing is to be avoided one day prior to body scrubs. Upgrade to a greater comfort by removing hearing aids, spectacles or contact lenses during treatments. Please note certain muds/oils used during some treatments may stain the skin or clothing. They request you to avoid vigorous activity for at least one hour after treatments for better results. Drink water before and after all treatments.
Guests with medical history like high blood pressure, heart conditions, who are pregnant or have any medical complications, are advised to consult their doctors before signing up for any spa treatments/services.
Please inform your spa therapist of any medical conditions.
