Riverview Manor is considered to be one of the top clinics in the world in providing treatment for addictions, eating disorders and depression.

Psychology
Our Psychologists stand alongside patients when facing and coming to terms with their problems. A relationship of trust and mutual respect is encouraged during individual sessions, reinforced by our unconditional acceptance of each patient as a special individual.
The twelve-step programme forms an important part of the integrated therapy to which patients, suffering from addiction, are exposed.
Group therapy offers a dynamic medium in which individuals grow and assist one another. Two therapists facilitate at each group session and through constructive interaction patients learn to deal with shared problems.
No patient is discharged from Riverview Manor without first ensuring that a workable aftercare plan is in place.
The recurring horror of post traumatic stress as well as other anxiety disorders are dealt with in a structured daily programme of recovery.
Dealing effectively with eating disorders takes time, understanding and patience, therefore Riverview Manor offers inpatient programmes to those willing to accept admission for a period of at least six weeks.

Medical & Nursing Care
Riverview Manor meets the criteria of a category “A” status private hospital. As such, the medical and nursing care is of a particularly high standard. All nursing staff at Riverview Manor are offered ongoing training.
The medical complications of addiction and dependency related disorders are identified and managed by a doctor and nurses. If necessary, patients are treated in a sophisticated high-care ward under 24 hour observation.
Dietetics
Without exception, a healthy diet remains an important part of any therapeutic programme. Our Dietician approves all meals and, where necessary, special diets are prepared for individuals. In particular, our Dietician plays an active role in the management of patients with eating disorders.

Family & Pastoral Councelling
Our patients cannot be successfully treated in isolation and great importance is placed on family involvement in the recovery process. Counsellors or therapists are always willing to support, educate and update the family members through structured sessions or by telephone.
Reasonably priced and comfortable accommodation nearby is easily arranged for family members wishing to attend counselling during part of the patient’s stay with us.
Recovery from addiction is challenging, not only in the physical and psychosocial context, but spiritually as well. Patients may request Christian pastoral counselling and we encourage this as an integral part of successfully working through a step-programme.

Occupational Therapy
Restoration of a functional and rewarding life is of prime importance. Training in assertiveness and other life skills complements other therapy and reinforces a sense of self worth. Through developing communication skills and gaining confidence in conflict management patients become better equipped to deal with crises. Unresolved stress fuels chemical dependency. Teaching more appropriate coping skills, therefore, remains the objective of our stress management programme. Stress management techniques help addicted individuals to regain the control they have lost over their lives.
