Senshi Day SpaAs you enter Senshi Day Spa, you are greeted by a sense of stepping out of one world and into another. Which is just as a spa should be.

Beautifully appointed, the decor is true to the spa's Eastern Fusion theme. The walls are adorned with exquisitely painted cherry blossom murals, a motif which is carried throughout the treatment room’s down to embroidered gowns. Muted lighting and warm natural colours contribute to the feeling of calm and relaxation, a promise of what is to come.

Senshi Day Spa is situated at the clubhouse of Eagle Canyon, an exclusive golf estate in Gauteng's suburb of Honeydew. While it is well supported by residents of the estate, the spa is open to all members of the public and if you’re looking for a real spoil, a visit to Senshi will not leave you disappointed.

Co-owner Levonne Risi has worked to create an ambience that will cater to her clients’ every whim, and indeed, the staff at Senshi make you feel as if you are the only person at the spa. Small touches, such as heated blankets on the treatment beds and minute attention to detail elevate this spa from the comfortable to the extraordinary.

Senshi Day SpaRisi has created an environment where guests can literally select their own spa experience. If you’re looking for relaxation and pampering, the spa is known for its Thai Full Body Massage and Chinese Pressure Point Massage. I received a sublime massage from Mike, who comes from China and specialises in massage.

I was also treated to a facial, which was without a doubt the best facial I have ever had. Not only were the face, neck and head massages heavenly, but I was blown away by how considerate and knowledgeable my therapist was. She offered to shape my eyebrows (and did a fantastic job, so much so that I am thinking of moving from my regular lady); she noticed without my having to mention when the bed was becoming too warm and she was extremely informative when I asked questions. Senshi Day Spa makes use of Matis, Dermalogia and Regim A products.

Senshi also runs a medi-spa on the premises. Risi is proud of the fact that the spa is abreast of all developments within the industry and as such new treatments are launched on an ongoing basis. Signature treatments at the medi- spa include laser vein removal, Titan non-surgical face lifts and laser hair removal. The medi-spa even offers an in-house Botox doctor.

The treatment rooms, of which there are 12, offer a haven of luxurious comfort, so much so that you never want to leave. The presidential suite, ideal for a pamper party or group of friends can accommodate up to six people and boasts its own Jacuzzi. Double rooms for couples make for an idyllic timeout with your partner. Three of the treatment rooms offer en-suite showers, while shower facilities are also available in the change rooms.

Senshi Day SpaThe mani and pedi lounges are stylishly decorated and offer a social setting; a plus for pamper parties or guests who have come with friends to be able chat whilst they are having their nails done. Senshi uses OPI for nails, and having been treated to both a mani and a pedi, I would highly recommend them.

Other features include a relaxation lounge, where guests are encouraged to pass the time between treatments. The oxygenated indoor heated pool offers sweeping views of the golf course, and there is an outdoor pool for lazy summer days.

A steam room, sauna and Rasul Chamber are also available, and slimming body wraps are given on the dry flotation bed.

Senshi truly is a magical place so if you're looking for somewhere to regroup, rejuvenate or even simply spoil yourself, you simply can't go wrong.
