A stay at Selborne is something modern couples can indulge in leaving no luxury behind. It is a venue to be enjoyed by couples of all ages that enjoy luxury and recognizes value. Set in an astute old world, it is perfect, with modern comforts blending beautifully with old established trees and a big wooden staircase in the main building foyer.

Known for its golf course, and golf still more popular with the male contingency, it is now also known for its spa, still more popular with the female contingency. Selborne is arguably the perfect setting to try and blend these worlds. The accommodation is luxurious but not too much, just enough for beauty and comfort in total relaxation. If a weekend of golf and beautiful delight is your thing, or you are planning to make it your thing, Selborne is a must.

With rooms nestled between the lush subtropical gardens own to KZN, it is a world apart despite being an easy drive south of Durban International Airport, just outside Pennington Beach. This premier golf destination has a Private Beach Club in the Pennington area serviced by a regular shuttle and a kid's entertainment centre with reliable minders to free up parents and to ensure the entire family is entertained.

The spa at Selborne conforms to the formality of old while still being friendly and warm with an exceptional level of professionalism. If you decide to set off without the family for a romantic weekend away, a trip to the Selborne spa at the end of a beautiful golf game is essential. With 2 single therapy rooms, a double therapy room and a hydro bath made for two it's a perfect end to a day and perhaps the perfect start to a wonderful evening.

Dining at the main restaurant is formal and grand with dishes own to the more decorous world such as Rabbit stew. If you've never been for a massage, never played a real round of golf and never had rabbit stew, you have to try it at least once, at Selborne.

The staff is friendly and professional and the therapists are pleasant local ladies with a deep passion for their craft. With between 2 and 4 therapists at the spa at any given time indulging in a basic 60 minute Matis Deep Cleanse facial or a 6 hour long Sanctuary Day Spa package, there's something to suit everyone. For those men, a little apprehensive about entering the sacred female domain that is a spa, a Golfers Retreat is the perfect accessory. Consisting of a golfers back massage, Indian head massage and a leg treatment it will open a new world not as feminine as you might have thought.

Selborne is a venue not to be missed by any ardent travelers and even more so for spa and golf addicts - experienced or not. One truly can rejuvenate in subtropical refinement after a remarkable round of golf, or while your partner plays golf. Such magnificent surroundings however, are best enjoyed together.
