Best for: A weekend or day's shutdown

Objective: 'Relief and relaxation'

Magalies Mountain Lodge. The long drive to Muldersdrift was quite an adventure; it brought back childhood memories of my dad and me driving from Durban to the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast to visit my great grandparents' farm. Riverview is built on the banks of the croc-free Crocodile River in Muldersdrift, a very quiet area near Krugersdorp that is great for getting away for a day or three.

Magalies Mountain Lodge.I started my half day spa treatments with a light breakfast before being ushered to the change rooms where I was kitted out in a fluffy white gown and matching slippers. I was ready for my Perfect Pleasures treatment package, which I had chosen solely because I saw the word pinotage - a uniquely South African red grape ingredient used in the products. Pinotage wine is quite delectable so I was looking forward to finding out what it could do for my body. I was not disappointed.
