Rara Avis Hydro Spa is a simplistic home-style spa situated in the heart of the Magalies mountain range. It is 75 minutes from Johannesburg, 25 minutes from Central Pretoria and 15 minutes from Hartebeespoort Dam.

The founder of Rara Avis Hydro Spa, Leizel Botha is passionate about wellbeing and the fundamentals of basic spa treatments.

Rara Avis Hydro Spa is a day spa. All treatments at Rara Avis Hydro Spa take you back to basic hydro therapy techniques, from floating in the Dead Sea to rejuvenating your body and mind in their steam tent.

Rara Avis Hydro Spa offers guests a light health breakfast platter of yoghurt, fresh fruit and cold meats for early starters and a simple lunch snack of hearty soup, health loaf and salad to help revitalise and energise your body during treatments.

The ambience is peaceful, simple and comfortable with a homely touch. It is filled with the subtle sounds of nature. The garden rest area looks onto the surrounding hills and is saturated with sunshine.

Rara Avis Hydro Spa offers a unique weightless experience in their floatation pool of pure Dead Sea waters and minerals. The results are total relaxation of the body and mind.

In addition, Rara Avis Hydro Spa offers three double treatment rooms (for individuals, couples and friends) and one triple room. Rara Avis Hydro Spa can accommodate group bookings of up to 16 guests per day and up to 32 individual guests throughout a full day of treatments.

A half day treatment package, including a Dead Sea mineral floatation treatment, steam tent, Gerichoe dead sea product facial, hot stone therapy massage (back, neck and shoulders) and pedicure will cost approximately R800.

Rara Avis Hydro Spa is currently a Day Spa only. However, in January 2008 will be relocating to the foothills of the Magalis mountains where horse therapy, couple therapy and a Turkish rasoul will be incorporated.
