Mount Festiva Lodge Spa Mount Festiva Lodge Spa

Review by Lisa Witepski

It’s a sad but unavoidable fact: what with the recession, many of us have had to cut back on little luxuries – spa visits included. Which is why Mount Festiva Lodge Spa, which aims to offer an accessible spa experience, is so welcome.

Having opened its doors just four months ago, this brand new spa provides a stunning getaway experience for guests. Its located within the grounds of the sprawling Alice and baby SophiaMount Festiva Lodge, nestled in the Magaliesberg Mountains – and the brief trip there, combined with the truly magnificent scenery, all adds to the special sense of adventure that comes with visiting an out-of-town spa. In fact, spa owner Ronel Davey informs that many visitors opt for a sleepover package, freeing them up for two glorious days of pampering. And there can be few places better suited to an overnight spa stay: as well as being beautifully picturesque, Mount Festiva Lodge is extraordinarily tranquil, and presents an array of facilities to make sure your every whim is catered for. In addition to a pool and Jacuzzi, the lodge has a restaurant which hosts exciting musical evenings to suit every taste – making it the ideal venue for culture vultures – while conference and teambuilding facilities make it a sound choice for corporates.

But back to the spa. Packages – full, half day or even night – Alice and baby Sophiaare the name of the game, with delectable treatments including full body massage with hot stones, Indian head and shoulder massage, hands and feet massage, pamper facial massage, cinnamon and sugar exfoliation with Thai stick massage – and as much tea, coffee, and cocktails as you’d like. However, individual treatments can also be arranged. The spa has elected to use natural products – like cinnamon and sugar scrubs – which can be used safely on even the most sensitive skins, as well as the Magnolia facial cosmetics range.

Prices are extremely reasonable, as it is Ronel’s dream to create an affordable space where absolutely everyone can relax and enjoy a pamper.

The final verdict? Mount Festiva Lodge Spa is a great choice if you’re in the mood for easy indulgence – make a weekend of it.
