Spa De La VeilleYour journey to relaxation to Spa d la Veille starts the very moment you step inside its soothing teal and white interior. This is a spa that oozes sophistication – and not by accident, either. Co-manager Dianne Oberholzer explains that the spa’s distinctive French theme was created around the knowledge that almost everyone, given the chance to journey anywhere in the world, would choose the globe’s capital of chic and romance.

This spirit of indulgence is reflected in every facet of Spa De La Veillethe spa. The staff are as warm as they are professional; while the actual setting of the venue – with its water-toned hues and décor that’s elegant and opulent without being ostentatious – is instantly soothing. But as inviting as the immaculate reception area is, it gives no hint of the absolute gorgeousness of the wet area. Through the doors of the sumptuously decorated cloakrooms you’ll find a beautiful pool and plump loungers; an ideal place to wait in between treatments if you so wish.

The treatment rooms themselves are equally plush and spacious; adding to the spa’s aura of luxury. And as for the treatments: divine.

I was lucky enough to experience Spa de la Veille’s signature package, Voyage de la Vie; a 90-minute journey to wellness. What’s lovely about this treatment is that you can do it yourself, with a therapist, or even with your partner (up to four people can be accommodated at a time). Spa De La VeilleEither way, it’s a pampering delight, starting with an exfoliating sugar scrub under the six shower heads of the Rain Forest Room before you move on to the ice exfoliation fountain; the first in the country and an incredibly refreshing way to tone the skin. Next up is a moisturising mud in the colour-therapy themed Rasul chamber (which also includes aromatherapy steam), before Kniepp therapy to stimulate the digestion and enhance blood flow. Reducing cellulite and adding to wellness. After a spell in the sauna, to further prepare the skin for more treatments, comes the very best past: the chromo-therapy martini bed where colour and water play with your senses to create a complete sense of relaxation and wellness.

Spa De La VeilleI was already feeling quite limpid by this stage; while my skin was velvety smooth. But there was more to come, with a lymph drainage massage and facial that sent me to seventh heaven. Kudos must go to Yolande, my wonderfully gracious therapist, who clearly has a knack for making people feel comfortable and spoiled.

Spa De La VeilleSpa de la Veille offers a range of treatments, from pop-in pampering to all day long decadence for him and her. Best of all, it’s open until 8pm on Wednesday nights; perfect for the after work crowd. And, as an entirely unique feature, the spa recently launched Image of Love, a unique 4D scanning service that allows moms-to-be to get acquainted with their little ones before the big day.

Diane says that that the philosophy behind Spa de la Veille is the same as that of a god red wine: some things just keep getting better. My treatment at this exceptionally well-managed, stunning to look at urban oasis is a case in point.
