>What a wonderfully novel and surreal experience it was to call on venue and be greeted with 'Welcome to Cloud 9' - the floatation and massage spa in Johannesburg.

Cloud 9 predominantly offers floatation and massage. As with Cape Town MediSpa, the floatation tank at Cloud 9 is the real thing and the treatment handled with all the correct procedures in place such as a darkened room and showering before and after.

What makes Cloud 9's floatation therapy unique, as far as I am aware, is that it is for one hour long. When Angela told me that I would be spending an hour inside the dark, quiet tank, I found the thought somewhat daunting. Surely I would become bored or cold or just generally fidgety? Needless to say, the exact opposite happened.

Once you enter the calm, dark, floating world inside the tank, it is as if time stops. For a while your mind battles with all your thoughts of the day and to do's for the week, and suddenly, as if by magic, you enter a free-floating mind space.It is immensely relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I found that matters that have been unresolved or that I had been pondering on for some time suddenly arrived at crystal clear solutions, effortlessly. At the same time I experienced an increase in creative thought, all while in a semi-slumber.

When this floatation-trans came to an end, I had to merely drift to the nearest massage table where I could collapse into a very satisfied heap where a fabulously nurturing and soothing massage further dissolved what was left of any stress I may have felt.

I was in such a happy, chilled out state when I left that I could barely drive my car!
