Best for:An urban escape
Elixir Spa is situated in the Aquarius building across the road from the beautiful sea views of Mouille Point. This ultra-modern city day spa is the perfect getaway for when you need some me-time away from the demands of city life.
The interior is sleek and the clean white, light green and turquoise colours promote relaxation and tranquillity. The entrance is inviting and from the front desk you can see the inner leisure and waiting area where a Jacuzzi, massage chairs and free-form shaped chairs tempt visitors. Big windows covered with long slits of side facing panels decorate the length of the room and keep people from looking in.
I was greeted by friendly staff and led to a vibrating massage chair where I filled in a consultation card and awaited my therapist. This was quite a pleasant and different touch. You feel treated from the word go and after a short massage session you're in the right frame of mind for your beauty treatments.
The dressing area and locker rooms are located in the same area as the toilet and shower. The room is comfortable but quite snug; put more than ten people in the room at the same time and it might become a little crowded. The shower is spacious and they provide their customers with free body wash. There were also plenty of towels and clean robes and footwear available.
My therapist led me to the Tranquillity room, where I were to receive my treatments. The main colour of the décor in this room was orange and beige and on the neatly made-up bed there were two large orange Barberton Daisy replicas. The colour and flowers gave the room a cheerful atmosphere.
Before starting with my first treatment, a Hydradermie facial, my therapist made sure I was comfortable and warm and then explained to me what she was going to do. Throughout the process she explained her movements and the benefits of each product. The specific facial I had included the use of galvanic and high frequency currents to deep cleanse and rehydrate the deeper layers of the skin. Another benefit, according to my therapist, is that it speeds up cell regeneration.
The facial also included generous pampering; I received a neck, shoulder and face massage as well as a head massage. After the facial, my skin was silky soft to the touch and properly hydrated but I also felt thoroughly relaxed.
My next treatment was a detoxifying and toning body wrap called the Aromatic Corps. This treatment starts with a scrub; next the therapist massages essential oils into the targeted areas. A hot mask is then painted on and you are wrapped in plastic. The treatment was potent and I could feel my body unwind under the influence of the oils. The treatment also has a powerful detoxifying effect. If you plan on having Aromatic Corps treatment make sure you clear the rest of your afternoon so you can take a few hours to relax and soak up all the benefits of this particular body wrap.
When you come for a treatment at Elixir Spa you are offered unlimited use of their spa facilities. Other amenities include a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and massage chairs. Jugs with fresh, cold water and free hot teas are also freely available to their customers.
