The phone is ringing off the hook and the deadline are looming. "You know very well that spending minutes, let alone hours, away from the office is a dangerous indulgence," that internal voice chided. Just as soon as she'd spoken, the rebel within quipped, "Indulgence? Sister, get real! Even a hardworking elephant goes for a therapeutic mud bath once in a while."

Twelve Apostles ViewsIt's with this guilt-tripping that I drove to the beautiful and tranquil 12 Apostles where The Sanctuary is located in Camps Bay. Once I was outside this establishment on the beachfront, I remembered why I'd come. In between deadlines and my many other missions, my batteries needed some recharging and that's just what I received. The therapists at The Sanctuary were relaxed, friendly and inviting. After going on a guided mini-tour of the spa, I was left in the hands of Lusanda, who would be my heroine for the day. I loved how she created a personal space for me and helped me relax, even with just disposable undies on!

Twelve Apostles Facilities With heated towels, soft music in the background, dimmed lights and the soothing chamomile fragrance in the air (minus the bright flash of James's camera!) a tranquil ambiance was set. My treatment for the day was the Moyo Crystal body massage, which started with a quick body exfoliation using sea salts. Lusanda told me these stimulated the body to absorb massage oils. Next, trickles of warm oil massaged into my back made me feel relaxed and my therapist informed me oils like the zinziba, fynbos and almond were detoxifying and de-stressing my skin.

Twelve Apostles Facilities After the massage, gemstones were placed on my back to balance my physical, emotional and psychological chakras (energy channels). When the treatment was finished, Lusanda even gave me tips on how to pamper myself in between visits. I left the spa with visibly radiant baby-smooth skin, a tension-free body and a sound mind ready for another mission.
