Set in the tranquil heart of nowhere - African Skies holds true to its name...
Angela - owner of the spa - is there to greet you as you enter this little piece of Heaven. The entire spa is filled with a sense of a welcoming ambiance...
Looking over my shoulder, I see the magnificent view of The Valley of 1000 Hills and horses grazing lazily in the distance.
After a hot cup of coffee to warm me, I am led to a beautiful room where I change into my dressing gown and warm slippers - which I remain in for the rest of the day.
A sense of detachment from everyday life and stress takes over...
The friendly and pleasant therapist leads me to a room overlooking The Valley of 1000 Hills where I am pampered with a hand and foot treatment.
I can hardly decide whether to close my eyes and relax or just lose myself in the breathtaking view.
After the hands and feet pamper it is time to relax with an Indian Head Massage. With soothing music playing in the background, I fall in a deep state of relaxation.
After another cuppa and some cake I am led to a serene room for a full body massage. Before the therapist can finish my back I fall fast asleep.
Reluctantly I change back into my clothes and go to the reception area where Angela awaits me. Smiling as always, she asks if I have enjoyed my time at the spa.
'I feel so pampered; I really do not want this day to end.' We both laugh.
As I get into my car and start the drive back to Durban, my heart sinks at the thought of leaving this tranquil and peaceful place, and returning to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I feel like I am leaving a little piece of heaven.
